I’m afraid marriage will spoil a good relationship

I feel like marriage is just a piece of paper that ruins everything. I see so many adults who were perfectly happy dating, and then as soon as they get married, they turn into stressed-out roommates who argue about dishes. It’s like the pressure of the ring makes everyone go crazy and forget why they liked each other in the first place.

But honestly, if your relationship is really that good, a piece of paper shouldn’t be able to break it. The problem is that people stop trying once they get married. They get lazy and take the other person for granted. If you guys promise each other that you’ll keep dating each other even after the wedding, it might not spoil things at all.

If you’re really that scared, just don’t do it yet. There’s no law that says you have to get married right away. You can stay boyfriend and girlfriend forever if that’s what keeps you both happy. Don’t let society pressure you into signing a contract if you think it’s going to ruin the best thing you have going on.
